Learn about AstaReal’s R&D program, providing astaxanthin to researchers, and welcoming conversation about the future of astaxanthin applications.

Research is a Core Value of AstaReal

AstaReal launched the world’s first natural astaxanthin supplement (Astaxin) after succeeding in the world’s first industrial production of Haematococcus pluvialis algae. This was accomplished in close collaboration with researchers from Uppsala University whose ingenuity, persistence, and commitment to science made this enterprise possible. Therefore, AstaReal has appreciated the value of research collaboration since its founding, and continues to invest in science and innovation that bolsters and illuminates the full potential of natural astaxanthin for human health.

Dr. Åke Lignell has been researching natural astaxanthin since the 1980’s.

Today, AstaReal® Astaxanthin has been the subject of over 180 studies, including nearly 80 human clinical studies, globally. AstaReal continues to honor and value the tradition of research collaboration, supporting natural astaxanthin research and innovation with the goal of learning more about how AstaReal® Astaxanthin can help people live happier, healthier lives.

AstaReal’s research program provides material for eligible IRB-approved studies aligning with AstaReal’s mission and public health interest. Studies of relevance include investigations on the effects of AstaReal® Astaxanthin on healthy aging, mobility and muscle performance, ocular health, skin health, cardiovascular health, cognitive function, immune function, and gut health in healthy subjects. AstaReal invites researchers to submit an inquiry with details of study proposals using the contact form on astarealusa.com. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and our science team is available to support your experimental design, helping you to realize high-impact studies with AstaReal® Astaxanthin.
